Torah was added as a gesture of love to the Jewish people.

Quote:
Why the Torah was added?
Was the Torah added because there was an increase in transgression, or was it added FOR transgression to increase?
Why was the NT added? Was it because there was an increase in idol worship, or was it added FOR idol worship to increase?

In other words, the whole question is begged.

What question was begged?

Was the Torah added to show that we can't follow it?

The answer to THAT, unasked question, is NO.

The Torah was added as a GIFT.

Following laws are a way to be closer to God.

No where does the Law itself say that God will not / can not forgive a breaker of the Law.

Rather, the key is whether the laws are UPHELD.

To wit, an American who drives over the speed limit is still 'keeping' the laws of America.

Whereas a terrorist who follows all the laws carefully, but intends to destroy the US, that person isn't really 'keeping' the laws.

Notice that to uphold the laws, God always gives easy examples to follow.

Ezek 18:21 "But if a wicked man turns away from all the sins he has committed and keeps all my decrees and does what is just and right, he will surely live; he will not die.
22 None of the offenses he has committed will be remembered against him.
Because of the righteous things he has done, he will live.
Jer 7:5 If you really change your ways and your actions and deal with each other justly, ...

It's not perfection in action that is required, but perfection in keeping.

Is 55

7 Let the wicked forsake his way and the evil man his thoughts. Let him turn to the LORD, and he will have mercy on him, and to our God, for he will freely pardon.
8 "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," declares the LORD.
9 "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.

Notice God says this about forgiveness.

Not about His nature?
