I confess that I'm relying hevily on secondary halachic literature. I'm not sure where to find this by the Chafetz Chaim since Mishnah Berurah doesn't go on Yoreh Deah where this halachah is found. I'm not familiar at all with the Chazon Ish on the inside.

I'll see what I can find out.

I have really been weighing how to apply this in my own observance. That is why I am greatly concerned with the issue currently at hand. Thus far, I have found that the pace is the generally accepted application of the mitzvot, but my heart longs to embrace it not only "properly" but respectfully as well.

Currently, I myself only have sideburns, as this does meet Orthodox halacha. Yet, if persuaded I'd possibly decide to personally observe more than that.

Oh, by the way, while you were writing your last response, I think I was editing my two previous responses... lol..
Sorry bout that, maybe there's a slightly different tone in them if you read them again... ?

But, like I stated before, I'd love to see anything you come up with. No pressure... just for my own personal gratification!!!

        Visitor,

If you are a male (assuming things am I??? he he he) how do you personally observe this halacha? I hope I'm not crossing any boundaries here.

I actually do think highly of those who chose to wear a beard, as it embraces the Mitzvah so greatly! It sometimes is difficult to allow your observance to stick out in a crowd. I have respect for those who do.

I only don't wear a beard because it grows so funny on me at such a young age (I'm only 24... HA!!!! who'da thunk it).

I haven't shaved in about six or seven years, and I just turned 24 as well, and it does grow a little funny. But its on the blonde side so its only now getting noticeable...more like a gotee..

The source I'm using is "The Laws of Pesach: a Digest" by R. Blumenkratz. Its an anual publication/book and deals with alot of different halachos.

Perhaps those who hold that one can be clean shaven learn the mishnah as you have suggested, thus they hold that even by R. Yismael one can be clean shaven since he refered to payos (in their understanding). Since this is how most people hold l'maseh, in practice, this may be a better known explination.

          Just speculations

              You Guys...

I as well have great respect for those who will 'physcially' show their faith in public...some by Tzitzit and Beard. Unfortunatly 'Christians' believe they are trying to be justified by the Law in the way they show their faith. How would I like to see a 'Christian' show his faith by such bold moves.

I do have sideburns (they are very Large...especially since I am a girl.......................made you look.....kidding). This is not for observance...just the old hippy in me.

However...they put these guys to shame: Click here

We need the dancing bannana on this board....but this will do
