  • Brit Chadasha, Originals in Greek, Aramaic, Hebrew, other?

Curious as to what you think. What was the original language of the Brit Chadasha (nt)? Does the original language have an impact upon the translations today? Is it an assumption (false or incorrect) that the originals in Greek?

I suppose we could also discuss other possibly mistranslational errors.

    Shalom!

    Yafet,

If you would have had "Don't know" or "Not sure" as options on the poll, I'd have voted. I have just recently heard that theory, and it seems reasonable to think that, since the authors of the BH were Jews, they may have written it in Hebrew. On the other hand, you are Jewish and you probably wouldn't write me a letter in Hebrew. If you did, chances are very good that I'd not understand it as well as if you'd written to me in English. That may have been the case for the body of believers at Corinth, Rome, etc.

    It's an interesting topic.

ps That's a very cool use of polls. I had no idea we could do that. But, hey, what do I know

      he he he...

Might as well make use of something if it's there, eh?

Anyway, I have what I feel to be a very solid presentation to make. However, I was simply testing the waters first to see where others stood, and what possible research people have done on this matter before bombarding my info.... like I do with everything else... (who me???)

HA! Guess what Hyssop, it says there that the moderators can edit the polls.... tell you what, go ahead and add that fifth option. I'd like to see where the majority of people here stand.

sorry, that line came to me as I was re-reading my "bombarding" sentance on my last post... he he he, any other python fanatics here?
