  • What Is Required ?

Eccl 12:13 - Fear G-d and keep His commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.

Micah 6:8 .... and what does the L-RD require of you but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your G-D?
    QUESTION:

Do we have any different obligation/requirement today? In other words, Avraham believed G-D -- he believed that G-D would provide what was needed for whatever His plan was. Avraham did not have complete information, but he was confident that G-D did, and that G-d would accomplish that which He set out to do.

Now, here we are, thousands of years later, and AFTER the coming of Yeshua. We may have the benefit of MORE information, but we are still looking through a "tinted glass." Are we required to believe anything more than Avraham was? Must we specifically recognize and acknowledge that Yeshua is messiah in order to be counted righteous as Avraham was?

Looking at Rev 12:17, we see an allusion to the time of the "birth pains," and we see that the woman's offspring are those who (1) keep the commandments of G-D and (2) have the testimony of Yeshua. What is the testimony of Yeshua? Well, without giving a LONG list of verses, I would summarize that he spoke of himself as the sent one, who spoke the words of his father. But he also referred to himself as Messiah (John 4:26), didn't he? If that is part of his testimony, is that now an added requirement to the verses in Eccl and Micah?

    Messiah

    Peace Rivkah!

Welcome to the Board! Hey, quick question, did you need me to log you in before you could post? I am not yet familiar with all the options of the Boards and doing the administrator role as of yet.

This is a good question that I sometimes wondered myself. Ignorant I often am.

I am curious really as to what you have to say about this. I am not usually one for a google. Hopefully we will have more in here soon. I sent out a few invites, soooo.

    Sincerely,
    Searching

      Dear Searching ~

I had to register, but once I did that, I just got on the board and clicked on the "new thread" button ... and voila' ! That was all there was to it.

Uh ........ what's a google ? Am I showing my age or my computer illiteracy by asking that question? ha ha

Thanks for the welcome. I look forward to participating in this forum. May we invite our own guests?

        Rivkah,

I don't know if google is the proper word for it. I just use it because of the google search engine, where say you type the word 'time' you get thirty thousand responses where the word time is used. I find people use bible search engines the very same way. Often I find the more verses located in a post, the less understanding that is present. Not always, but sometimes.

Please by all means, invite whom you like. If you have read the views, I am sure that you can see this is sponsered by a more radical set of believers. Radical in that, not the world's opinion of the Book.

Oh yeah, Messiah said to believe in him and be saved. Do you find more to this, or that this is more than we bargained for?

        Sincerely,
        Searching

Exodus 25:21 "And you shall put the mercy seat on top of the ark, and in the ark you shall put the testimony which I shall give to you.

          H5715. eduth, [730b]; from H5749a; testimony:-- admonitions(m)(1), ordinance(m)(1), testimonies(13), testimony(43), warnings(1).

Matthew 8:4 And Jesus said^ to him, "See that you tell no one; but go, show yourself to the priest, and present the offering that Moses commanded, for a testimony to them."

Revelation 12:17 seems like a two-edged sword to keep the commandments and have the testimony of Yeshua. What is the testimony of yeshua? I would submit that the testimony of Yeshua IS the ordinances of Hashem as lived out by Yeshua. How can we know how to live in the ordinances of Hashem without the testimony of Yeshua and how will others know if we do not have the testimony ourselves?
