• Who Is God

Hello to all,
I am new at this posting thing, so go easy on me. These are my beliefs, I would love to know yours.
11 September 2003
Since in the beginning God created the heaven and earth I choose God as a good place to start. God is really amazing He has taught me something today I never noticed before in all the times I have attempted to start reading the Bible.
God the Father:
-Father of mankind
-has a tangible body of flesh and bone
Notice I did not say a body of flesh and blood, if we really get into this down the road the subject will come up I'm sure. I will bring it up I know.
God the Son:
-Jehovah
-Lord
-Jesus Christ
-The God who works under the direction of God the Father
-has a body of flesh and bone
-is in complete harmony with God the Father
-He is the Brother of all mankind
-He is the eldest of the spirit children of God the Father
-There are many things mentioned as being done by God in the Bible these in truth were done by God the Son, Jesus Christ.
-Jesus Christ is the creator of the heavens and the earth as Paul said God created all things by Christ Jesus.
God the Spirit also known as Holy Ghost
-does not have a body of flesh and bone
-has been on the earth since the time of Adam though did not fully operate in fullness among the Jews during Christ's life on earth-John 7:39; 16:7 only the gift was not present the power of the Holy Ghost was, if not nobody would have believed in Jesus Christ.
-Holy Ghost knows all things, can lead one to know future events 2 Peter 1:21 and 2:20-21
There you have it some of my basic beliefs in God. God loves Christ so much He wants the whole world to know His Son. Therefore He mentions His Son before all others in the Bible, hence: "In the beginning God..."Genesis 1:1 The Bible is truly a book about our Savoir. His is a life I like to read about I need to read about His life more then I do. Our Father loves us so much He wants us to know of the Love He has for Christ. When we come to know just how much He does love His son we can only begin to understand the love He has for all mankind. He could have boasted of Himself first, He chose to introduce our Savoir first. He rarely mentions Himself in the Bible though, when He does it always involves His Son in some way, also He comes in only to introduce His Son. (Matthew 17:1-8; Acts 7:55-56 two examples.) Talk about a humble Father who loves His Son dearly.
I hope this gives you a better understanding of The God I have come to know, yes The; I do believe.
"There are many things in life that will catch your eye, but only a few will touch your heart.....pursue those."

Let's see...

from Utah.
the Father has flesh and bone.
Jehovah is the Son and the brother of mankind.

Are you LDS?

What do I believe?
Apostles' Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, God's only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again;
he ascended into heaven,
he is seated at the right hand of the Father,
and he will come again to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. AMEN.

Ahh, the power of Cheese . ..

Greetings Matthew!

I am going to question where you learned the 'Apostle's Creed'. I ask because I recited it VERY MANY times in Catholic Church. I never learned anything about it however.

Peace,

Never once have I heard the Apostles' Creed at church. I first heard it on a music cd. The group is Apt Core and the name of the song is creed.

G~d's only Son?

Matthew,

What do you mean by G~d's only Son?

Are there no other sons of G~d?

Romans 8:14-17
Gal 4:5-6
Phil 2:15
Heb 12:5-8
I John 3:1-2
Pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the [messiah] out of a pure heart. (II Tim 2:22)

Yes Matt you guessed right.
I have a question for you; what form is Christ in at this very moment? Anyone is welcomed to answer it.

Sure, we also can be sons of G-d, but we aren't in the same manner as the Son. I would consider myself a son of G-d (thanks to Messiah), but my mother wasn't a virgin, and I wasn't conceived by the Holy Spirit. We can only be sons of G-d because of THE Son of G-d.

Peter replied, "you are the Messiah, the Son of the living G-d."

Interesting question . I'm not sure how to answer.

Messiah lives forever. His body was resurrected. He is at the right hand of the Father. He is our Great High Priest.

I'm not sure what you were looking for, let me know if I need to elaborate on something.

I am somewhat familiar with LDS. I talk with mormons occasionally on other message boards. I had a couple of sister missionaries come to my house almost a year ago... that's a long story.

sincerely,
matt

Matt,
I was just wondering because if Christ still has His resurrected body, that would mean He has a body of flesh and bone. I have talked to manay people who believe in the trinity. They try to explain it to me I don't know if I understand it right. To me though it sounds like they believe the Fayher, Son and Holy Spirit are one something. If so Christ is The God and God has a body, unless he dropped it off somewhere before He sat on the right hand of God. That is another thing that confuses me, they seem to say they are one something, how can He sit on His own right side. Maybe you can clarify it for me. In the past when someone has it has always confused me more or sounded silly.

A couple of sister missionaries, would you by any chance remember their names? I served a mission in St.Louis. If your close to that area maybe I know them.

I served with Sister Oviatt, the other name sounds familiar but I don't remember her. She must have come out right before I left.

Who sits at the right hand of the LORD?

Psalm 110:1 YHWH says to my Lord:
"Sit at my right hand
until I make your enemies
a footstool for your feet."
Before I take this further, I want to make sure that you know that in your bible, where you see "The LORD" in all caps, that is YHWH (Jehovah). This is something I just learned a while back.

In Psalm 110, we have YHWH inviting someone to sit at His right hand. Do you know who it is?

with love,
matt

Do you keep in touch with Sister Oviatt? I would love to hear what she's up to. My wife and I often wonder about them. We had many talks with them, and became pretty good friends I would say. They even came to our church once. And I went to theirs (in St. Peters, MO).

I do have Sister Oviatt's address and maybe phone number. I can get a hold of her and let her know you want to hear how she is doing if you would like.
St. Peters I served in that area, it is a nice area.
